DOES anyone else have problems ordering repeat prescriptions online?
At one time it was a simple task to call the doctors or just drop your request off in a box at the surgery.
Then it moved to online requests, which we coped with.
Now the NHS communications team seems to have imposed new layers of difficulty which, if you are not clued up, you are going to struggle with.
You can have the choice of accessing your account by two different routes: the NHS itself or your surgery’s site.
The NHS access route has three levels of security which I just gave up on.
Both require verification codes sent to your mobile.
Sometimes we have to hurdle over the ‘I’m not a Robot’ farrago of traffic lights and motorbike puzzle squares. The surgery route has two levels of security, which seems the less onerous of the two.
But at every click of the computer, you have to wade through all the multiple cookies options.
Today, when trying to get a complex monthly prescription request through, the final layer of cookies froze and I was unable to get the request processed. I rang the surgery and was told to send the request via email.
Copying six items with their quantities took quite a while to do accurately. Then both my computer and phone blocked the mail address I had been given so we drove to the surgery and handed in a print-out, which the receptionist entered on her computer.
A process that normally takes three minutes took us two hours to complete.
I thought progress was meant to make life easier for people!
We are in our mid-70s and hitting you with this minefield of tech to get your prescription in time is not only frustrating but discriminatory against not only old people but also many other service users.
Or do these hoops to be jumped through have a more sinister objective? Could I ask our MPs to seek answers on this please?
