WELL said Rainford resident in last week’s letter to the St Helens Star.

I’ve never known a new Government become so unpopular so quickly.

No honeymoon period for Labour!

No evidence provided to support the existence of a £20 billion black hole. Let’s see if they dare to target pensioners in their autumn budget.

The “significant” rise in pensions which is supposed to compensate for the loss of the £300 only applies to anyone who retired on full state pension 2016 onwards. This hasn’t been made clear to pensioners at all.

Recently the Tories put forward a motion opposing the Govt plan to restrict WFA to those claiming Pension Credit.

The member for St Helens South, Marie Rimmer, was absent from the House, with permission, and so unable to vote on this motion.

St Helens North’s David Baines, in his first term in Parliament, voted against the Tory motion and so in favour of the Government plans. If he’d voted any other way he’d have been in trouble with his party.

Did he wonder how his constituents would view this?

Now we have Sir Keir Starmer, Angela Rayner and Rachel Reeves, among others, accepting gifts and donations. Nice little addition to a whopping salary plus expenses. This is only the start of a five-year term, if they last so long.
