HAVING attended the Saints Vs Castleford game last Friday it has become apparent in my eyes that the Saints’ matchday experience is becoming stale.

Saints don’t seem to have moved away from the standard Saints Angels dancing team, half-time junior rugby and the kick-the-crossbar challenge as their matchday entertainment offering.

Aside from this there’s not a lot else on offer to attract fans to home games and make it an event that draws people to attend games more regularly and more importantly spend their disposable income at the ground.

With the standard of the game on the pitch generally not being that great in Super League, people having less money to spend for leisure activities and Saints seemingly going through a season of up-and-down form surely the club need to be far more inventive and utilise the ground and surroundings more to attract new and old fans to home games?

How about a fan zone outside the ground with stalls, a meet-and-greet with current and ex-players, a skills zone with coaching for kids, an outside food and drink area or even an outdoor screen showing highlights of old games?

Other clubs in both codes have shown the way and Saints should be looking to follow to attract more supporters to home games.
