I WAS sorry to see the car wash on Vicarage Road in Haydock go and mystified as to why one of the reasons stipulated for its closure was that it was an “eyesore”.
Funny how the council are quick to close down a business on such a claim when derelict buildings litter the town.
What about the real eyesores such as the abandoned car wash and United Footwear up at Carr Mill, the collapsing White House pub, standing ugly amidst the new housing estate on Baxters Lane, the crumbling, paint-splattered Wheatsheaf overlooking St Helens Junction Station or the former tax office on College Street which has stood empty for years?
I’ve tried writing to the council on a couple of these examples but had no reply.
