IN response to the letter last week saying the demolition of the Hardshaw Centre can’t come soon enough.
Looking at the comments in response on the Star’s Facebook page, it is difficult to find any positivity in what people post.
The positivity lies in the fact that the council are delivering a huge investment in the town centre that will see it repurposed to suit the needs of the 21st century, provide facilities for the people and businesses that are more suited to the constant challenge of meeting the commercial demands of present-day society, and provide much-needed new homes.
We are all guilty of sometimes looking at the past through rose-tinted glasses, but it (St Helens town centre) wasn’t as nice a place as some people try to make out.
