IT SADDENS me how quickly some people want to put Christmas behind them these days.
It seems to start earlier and earlier these days, with lights up in early November in some places.
But once the presents are opened and the turkey has been eaten, there are people who just say Christmas is over – let’s get the tree down and crack on.
Perhaps it’s the commercialisation of Christmas - and the fact it does begin so early for so many - that some have just had enough.
However, it’s worth reminding people (without trying to give a religious lecture here) that the 12 days of Christmas is very much part of the celebration, from the birth of Jesus to the arrival of the three wise men bearing gifts.
If at all possible, don’t rush back to those busy hectic lives - celebrate Christmas over this period, spend quality time with your families, show goodwill to your friends and community... and keep those lights on and that tree up for a little longer.
