I WAS outraged at the decision to close libraries.
Closing libraries can never be a good idea. They should be adequately funded and improved, not closed.
The so-called senior councillors who voted for this are the ones who ought to be axed.
Claims of “modernisation” are mere politic speak to shore up taxpayers’ money for more useless projects that never benefit the community.
Take for example Lea Green puzzle, once a great roundabout that was a natural green habitat and now covered in tarmac and concrete.
So, when the cognitively challenged councillors talk of modernisation, what they really mean is the gradual decimation of the community and its resources such as libraries. I doubt any of the councillors have ever read a book or even know how to use a library.
Axe the councillors, not the libraries.
