REGARDING how to improve St Helens town centre.
A really good market would be a start, that’s what seems to work for many towns. Look at Altrincham.
Church Square could easily facilitate an artisan market once a month on a Saturday, they usually bring in people if you get the right traders.
There’s too many bargain/cheap shops.
Town has a huge population and it seems that most of the shops are bargain basement, pound shops etc.
You need to attract the people with money to spend, and at the moment there’s not much going on for that demographic.
