Thatto Heath Crusaders 26 Leigh East 38 HEATH were knocked off top spot of the interim league table as fast as they were appointed as they went down to a stronger Leigh East side at Hattons Solicitors Crusader Park.
Heath started well with Quinn opening Thatto’s account on 4 minutes but East’s Kilshaw replied quickly for a converted try. Chris Frodsham sold Leigh the dummy on 15 minutes to dart over but two tries from Leigh saw the advatange their way at 10 – 16 with 10 minutes to go before the break. On the death of the first half Darren Woods put Phil Morrison through leaving Quinn to add the extras and make it all square at 16-all at the break.
Leigh started the second half well and were causing problems for Heath’s defence as their big forwards made dents in the Heath line. Three tries in quick succession saw East make up a 14 point cushion with no reply from Thatto. On the last restart though Hattons Solicitors Man of the Match Adam Walsh used his pace to re-gather the ball for Thatto and jog over the line to score to bring the score to 20-30 and a glimmer of a comeback. Leigh quickly snuffed this out however with a further two tries which took the game away from Thatto. The only consolation being a try two minutes from time from Frodsham which Quinn goaled.
