Bradford Northern 12 Saints 51.
Steve Prescott, Anthony Sullivan and Chris Joynt all scored braces of tries in the game at Odsal. Scott Gibbs, Alan Hunte and Paul Loughlin also crossed for Saints. Bobbie Goulding kicked seven goals and a drop.
Phil Veivers showed his versatility by playing hooker.
40 Years Ago.
17 October 1984.
Saints 42 Halifax 14.
Saints came back from a 14-8 half time deficit to see off an Australian-packed Halifax team at Knowsley Road.
Sean Day scored two tries and kicked seven goals. All the other tries came from forwards – Roy Haggerty, 2, Harry Pinner, Peter Gorley and Tony Burke.
45 Years Ago.
14 October 1979.
Saints 15 Hull KR 7.
Having lost their first four league games of the 1979-80 season, Eric Ashton’s side beat the previous year’s champions at Knowsley Road.
Tries came from Denis Litherland, who had recently joined from Pilkington Recs, Peter Glynn and Steve Peters.
Harry Pinner kicked three goals.
50 Years Ago.

Saints 30 Leeds 2.
Saints made progress in the BBC 2 Floodlit Trophy.
There were two tries apiece from wingers Les Jones and Roy Mathias.
Scrum half Jeff Heaton and centre Billy Benyon scored the other tries with John Walsh booting six goals.
60 Years Ago.
17 October 1964.
Saints 25 Featherstone Rovers 12.
South African wing Len Killeen scored a hat-trick and kicked five goals for a 19-point haul against the Colliers.
Welsh packman Mervyn Hicks and centre Keith Northey grabbed the other three-pointers.
70 Years Ago,
16 October 1954.
Salford 2 Saints 19.
Saints eased past Salford at the Willows with two tries from Eric Ledger, and others from Max Garbler, Joe Ball and Frank Carlton.
Peter Metcalfe kicked two goals.
