LIVERPOOL St Helens beat Glossop 46-24 in a high scoring ADM Cheshire and Lancashire Counties 1 encounter with a strong first half display building a lead sufficient to see off all challenges in the second.

They showed immediate intent in the third minute when Alex McClurg and Rob Sexton combined to send hooker John Arnold over from close range.  Wood converted.

Six minutes later Chris Hull, now fully warmed up in his former role at the back of the scrum, finished off a powerful catch and drive.

Wood converted before slotting a penalty soon after.

In huge contrast to a couple of recent outings, the Moss Laners were in control and not chasing the game.

Glossop finally joined in with a try in the 24th minute, quickly followed by another LSH score through Joe Donlevy in the left hand corner after good work along the back line.

Wood converted for a 24-5 lead. LSH continued to make the most of decent possession and a well-timed chip through from Sexton was neatly touched down by the ever alert Wood and then converted to put them further ahead.

In the final minutes of the half, Glossop scored a second try, but in keeping with the rest of the half, LSH answered it with a try from Ian Stanley to go in 36-12 at half time.

The second half was a more even affair with the visitors making a determined effort to reduce the arrears.

They pulled one back 10 minutes into the half followed by a period of strong pressure only for LSH to respond with a Wood penalty and a second try from Chris Hull to make the game secure.

Glossop snatched a late try to earn a bonus point which was fully deserved for their contribution to a fine and enjoyable game of rugby.
