SUTTON will play in Division One of the Liverpool Competition next season after a dramatic final day of the campaign saw them pip Caldy to promotion.
Nat Brown was the undoubted hero for Joe Noctor's side as she took an incredible 9-21 to skittle Parkfield Liscard for just 46 in reply to the host's 109 all out. The win, coupled with Alder's one wicket victory over Caldy, ensured Sutton go up and sparked celebrations long into the night at the New Street Oval.
In the Premier League, Rainford sealed their highest ever finish of third with a narrow win at Wigan. Batting first, the visitors declared on 189-9 with a half-century for Matthew Bailey (62) before Andrew Davies took 7-85 off his 19.4 overs to confirm a six run victory.
Rainhill finished seventh after finishing with a defeat at Formby. The hosts, who sealed fourth place with the win, declared on 251-7 with Saeed Ullah's 3-106 the best figures. Opener Bilal Khan hit 50 in reply but Rainhill were dismissed for 197.
St Helens Town's relegation from Division One was confirmed last week but they found solace in a final day win over Fleetwood Hesketh who will also play in Division Two next season. David Gaskell (47) top scored as Town posted 124 all out before Matthew Bielby took 4-6 to ensure an 18 run victory.
