SAINTS have been dealt a double blow by the Match Review Panel following their game at Warrington on Saturday.

Although Matty Lees has been cleared for the “late but minimal contact” incident on Josh Drinkwater for which he was yellow carded, he has been hit with a Grade B for contact with a match official.

As a result he has picked up a one-match penalty notice.

The charge states: “Law 15.1 (i) Deliberate or reckless physical contact with a match official. Grade B.”

To make matters worse Moses Mbye has been hit with a Grade B Dangerous Contact charge – specifically a late hit on the passer.

The charge on Mbye states: “Dangerous Contact – A defending player makes contact with an opponent after the ball has been released by an opponent in a vulnerable position which causes flexion to the head, neck or spinal column on an attacking player, which poses an unacceptable risk of injury to that player. Grade B.”

Mbye too has a one-match ban and like Lees will sit out the crucial home game with Castleford on Friday.
