SOME sporting moments are just pure magic.

Moses Mbye's drop goal to win the Super League Round 21 match for Saints against Salford Red Devils at the Totally Wicked Stadium last night was one of them.

With the match all square at 16-16 at the sound of the full-time hooter, the game went into golden-point extra time.

So the teams kicked off again for an additional maximum five minutes of play, with the game to end at the point either side manages to score in that period.

And with 31 seconds left on the clock, Saints set up the situation perfectly for the Australian to fire over a one-pointer from 28 metres out.

That was the cue for carnage - jubilant scenes on and off the pitch for everybody with a Saints persuasion.

It is a wonderful way to win a game, a terrible way to lose one, but on this occasion the fortunes favoured the men in the red vee.

The victory was the first at home for Saints since they defeated Catalans Dragons at the TWS in May.

And it was a back-to-back success for Paul Wellens' men, having ended a five-match losing streak with their victory at Hull FC last Saturday.
