SMILES were back on the faces of Saints' players and their travelling fans after the 46-6 win at Hull FC.

After the pain of five defeats in a row - a run like which had not been experienced by the club since 1986 - tasting victory again felt sweet.

While there is plenty of caution around the fact that Hull FC were even more heavily depleted than Paul Wellens' side, the head coach has something to build on for the tougher challenges that lie ahead.

And that starts with a visit from Salford Red Devils on Thursday.
