LUCY Renshall has been speaking after her day on the mat in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Renshall endured a disappointing round of 16 loss to Lubjana Piovesana in the women’s -63kg judo event.
The 28-year-old from St Helens was unable to reach the quarter-finals following a narrow 1-0 defeat to the Austrian on golden score.
Nothing could separate the pair in regulation time, but just 34 seconds into overtime Piovesana scored a Waza-ari to edge through.
“I felt good after my first fight, but I suppose in judo, one score can call it. The better person won on the day,” Renshall said.
“It’s hard and frustrating and more upsetting when you give absolutely everything, and then it doesn’t go your way.
“I feel like it’s not fair. But that’s just sport, so I’ll have a rest and see what happens next.”
It was Renshall’s successive golden score clash of the day after beating Katharina Haecker - the fifth seed - during their round of 32 meeting earlier in the morning.
An entertaining match saw the Australian take the lead, but Renshall instantly levelled to tie 1-1 before going on to win three minutes and six seconds into golden score.
