RAINFORD lost ground on the top in the Liverpool Competition Premier League after rain intervened in their game with Rainhill.
Rainford were 112-5 off 32.1 overs when the game was abandoned with Rainhill's Luke Procter (3-59) the pick of the bowlers.
In Division One, St Helens Town's trip to Sefton Park also fell foul of the weather.
Sutton suffered a close defeat in their Division Two game against Ainsdale. Alex Oldfield took 4-35 as the visitors were restricted to 129 all out but Sutton's reply fell 15 runs short.
