ST HELENS Sutton Athletics Club were saddened to hear of the death of club president John Irwin who passed away at Whiston Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

A long time member of the club, John gave great service and took on numerous roles including competing as an athlete, coaching juniors, qualifying as a time keeper and field judge, and also serving on the Club Committee and later becoming President.

A popular figure track side John will be sadly missed.

Condolences go out to all of his family at this difficult time.
