RAINFORD moved into the top three of the Liverpool Competition Premier League with a 39 run win over New Brighton.
Jason Login (56) and Paul Farrar (72) both hit half-centuries as the hosts declared on 226-8 before John Dotters (4-36) spun a web with the ball to guide Rainford to victory.
In contrast, Rainhill are in the relegation zone after a defeat to champions, Ormskirk. Skipper, Jamie Harrison, (23) top scored as the home side struggled to 132 all out with the visitors knocking off the runs for the loss of three wickets.
Newton-le-Willows' Ahmad Safi Abdullah took 6-31 as Birkenhead Park were bowled out for 93 with the hosts reaching the target for the loss of four wickets.
In Division One, St Helens Town sit bottom of the table after a heavy defeat at Lytham. The hosts declared on 222-7 with three wickets apiece for William Griffiths (3-61) and Sibusiso Maseko (3-79) the pick of the bowlers but Town could only manage 98 all out in reply.
Sutton made the long trip to Prestatyn in Division Two where a half-century from Joe Smith (54) helped them reach 149 all out. Alex Oldfield (5-20) and Andy Cowley (3-32) then sealed a 71 run victory.
On Sunday, Rainford travelled to Kendal in the Lancashire Cup, with Dotters (4-14) taking a hat-trick and Login (4-34), as the Cumbrians reached 201-9 off their 45 overs. The visitors reached 142 all out in reply.
