Whilst not in quantity the quality of recent performances by St.Helens Sutton A.C. athletes has been of the highest order.
After gaining County selection for Merseyside at under 17 level, Liam Johnson and Lily Birkett competed in the Northern Inter Counties Championships at Stanley Park Blackpool.
Earning a Sliver Medal, Liam finished an excellent second in the 1500 metres and just missed out on breaking the 4 minute barrier with the very good time of 4 minutes .01 seconds.
Meanwhile Lily in what was a very competitive 3000 metre race, achieved a top 10 placing in a solid 11 minutes 28 seconds.
Ryan Molyneux was the clubs sole representative in the popular Halewood 5k, organised by Knowsley Harriers this 1st Saturday of the month event takes place on an out and back course at the Halewood Triangle country park.
Ryan was 6th overall and a pleasing 1st in his age category clocking the good time of 17 minutes 25 seconds for the distance.
Showing great versatility Sonya Monaghan and Amy Corfield took part in the Ullswater Epicman Triathlon.
This gruelling event is half of the actual Iron Man Challenge, consisting of a 1.2 mile open water swim, a 56 mile bike ride and a half marathon.
Sonia finishing 1st in her age category and 4th overall with a combined time of 5 hours 46 minutes 23 seconds and Amy 11th female overall posting a combined time of 6 hours 25 minutes 15 seconds. Two excellent performances.
