ST HELENS Sutton AC members made the short trip to Liverpool to compete in the Annual Merseyside Athletics Track and Field Championships held at Wavertree Athletics Centre.

The athletes returned with no fewer than 11 medals -  four gold, four silver, and three bronze.

Gold medals went to Dan Cooke in the 1500m 4m.02.37s, Liam Johnson U17M 1500m 4m.07.01s, Lucy Clitheroe U20W 1500m 4m.56.20s and Taylor Massey U20 800m 2m.23.32s.

Silver medals were won by James Asson U17 100m 11.49s, Gabriel Mullen U20 800m 1m.57.26s Lily Birkett U17W 3000m 11m.40.43s and Heather Drillingcourt 100m 13.79s.

Bronze medals were collected by James Asson U17 200m 23.63s, Bobby Birkett U15B 3000m 10m.37.2s and Tess Mullen U13G High Jump 1.25 metres.

Other athletes on the day posting good times and distances just outside of the medal count were Joe Byrne, Will Vose, Oliver Sharp, Archie Cooper Paul Bielby. Sophie Brennan, Elsie Stamper Heather Grant and Eva Southworth.

All in all another successful day for the St Helens Sutton Club.
