WITH the track and field season beginning to take shape a number of St Helens Sutton A.C athletes travelled to Longford Park Stretford to take part in the Trafford open track meeting.
These open meetings are always very well attended with athletes being placed in races based on ability, potential and recent race times for the distances they are competing in.
There were PBs and season's bests galore for Sutton.
Lucy Fairclough came 2nd in her 3000 metre race in a PB of 10.19.07 minutes.

800 metres Daniel Cooke 2nd 1.56.46 minutes SB.
800 metres Taylor Massey 6th 2.24.40 minutes PB.
1500 metres 1st Joe Buckley 4.02.62 minutes PB, 2nd Liam Johnson 4.02.81 minutes PB, 9th Gabriel Mullen 4.07.32 minutes PB.
1500 metres 4th Lucy Fairclough 4.51.50 minutes PB 1500 metres, 2nd Lucy Clitheroe 4.55.52 minutes PB.
Meanwhile in the Cheshire League individual and team standings Bobby Birkett is currently placed as 1st U13, Liam Johnson as 1st U17 and Taylor Massey as 2nd U20.
The veteran ladies team are 3rd and the senior men are in pole position placing 1st as well as the men's veteran team also holding 1st position.
A total of 16 athletes took part with 23 PBs on the day.
The YDL League saw 10 club members taking part, standout performances came from Heather Grant who achieved PBs in the 200 metres and 300 metres, Lily Birkett who doubled up doing the 3000 metres on the Saturday where she knocked 11 seconds off her PB and on the Sunday shaving another 4 seconds off her 1500 metre time to record another PB.
