ON DAY 10 of our Saints Advent feature we have a shot of the Saints legends side coached by Alex Murphy and featuring former captains Chris Joynt and Paul Sculthorpe.
The side narrowly lost to the club’s Academy select side in the pre-match tag rugby game on a day the celebrate the last regular round at Knowsley Road.
The team was put together by the indefatigable battler Steve Prescott and spans teams of different eras.
How many of the past players can you pick out?
The past players did their lap of honour after the game, taking the applause from the Knowsley Road faithful one final time.
On that occasion legend Murphy spent 15 minutes signing countless autographs on his slow walk back to the tunnel.
Murphy was stopped yards away from the spot where he famously scored the controversial match winning try in the 1966 Challenge Cup quarter final against Hull KR.
