ST HELENS Sutton A.C club member Steve Anders joined the sub 34 minutes 10K Club, when he ran a personal best of 33:42 at the Wilmslow Festive 10K.

In doing so he knocked off a full minute off his previous best time, 34:42 at the St Helens 10K earlier this year in March.

The popular Haydock athlete has been in a rich vein of form this year.

He has also achieved PBs for the Marathon distance with 2hrs:41m:46secs at the Edinburgh Marathon in May and 16mins:50.4secs in the 5,000m at the opening Northern track and field fixture at Carlisle in June.

Steve's daughter Nicole is also a club member emphasising Sutton's family club ethos.

Meanwhile after extracting the Liverpool & District results from the British Cross Country Challenge at Sefton Park it emerged that fellow club member Joe Buckley finished second in the senior men's race, another excellent performance to go with Joe's first place at the opening fixture at Arrowe Park in October.

The final Liverpool & District Cross Country fixture will be held at Beacon Park Skelmersdale this Saturday, 9 December.
