Burnage 56 Liverpool St Helens 26.
Another game on the road, another defeat, another strong second half fight back, and another losing bonus point.
Who knows how valuable these one pointers will be when April comes around?
On this occasion the game was won and lost in the two ten minute periods either side of half time.
Burnage took the lead early on with a converted try 7-0 before LSH hit back in the 15th minute with a fine try in the left hand corner from Jack Kennedy 7-5. An even contest developed until the half hour mark when Burnage scored two converted tries before the break to enjoy the oranges with a 21-5 lead.
Immediately after the break the home side went further ahead and then scored again soon after, taking full advantage of LSH handling errors and sprinting home on their artificial surface, to extend the lead to 35-5 and the game was effectively gone for LSH. The Moss Laners determined response however, as in previous weeks, produced three tries, interspersed with three more from the hosts in a highly entertaining last thirty minutes of rugby.
Try number two came from stand-off Jamie Morris, capping off an impressive first appearance of the season with a slicing run through the Burnage defence. This was followed by a score from the hard working Dan Webster burrowing over after concerted pressure from the LSH pack on the Burnage line. Jack Kennedy provided the bonus point score with his second try of the afternoon after a well worked move along the back line. Matty Wood converted all three.
Next week (25th) sees the rearranged home fixture with Vale of Lune. 2.15.
