ST HELENS Sutton AC travelled across the Mersey to compete in the opening fixture of the Liverpool and District Cross Country League at Arrowe Park at the weekend.
Individual and team successes were secured on a three-lap 5.5 mile course.
Winner of the race and first home for the team was Joe Buckley in a superb time of 29:42.
Next up for the team and also pleasingly top-10 finishers were Daniel Cooke in ninth, 32:08, and Tom Griffiths in 10th, 32:13.
Steve Anders followed in a time of 33:16, securing 14th position, backed up by Chris Birkett in 36:51, 37th, and the six-scoring team was rounded off by Michael Brussels in 50th posting a time of 38:53.
The team finished in an excellent second place.
Three women also ran for Sutton, with Taylor Massey placing 68th in 40:49, Siobhan Massey 90th in 43:34 and Sarah Birkett in 105th place in 45:33 in what were three very creditable performances.
