RAINFORD are unbeaten in seven games in the Liverpool Competition Premier League after beating bottom side New Brighton by four wickets.
Batting first, the visitors reached 156 all out with John Dotters (4-52) and James Davies (4-37) in the wickets. Paul Farrar (52) and Craig Woods (48) secured the win.
Rainhill recorded one of the results of the weekend after they dismissed defending champions Wallasey for just 50. Khalid Usman picked up 6-11 after the hosts had posted 222-9 off 55 overs thanks to Billy Godleman's 102.
In Division One, St Helens Town moved off the bottom of the table with their first win of the season. Skipper David Gaskell top scored with 37 as Town reached 137 all out against Highfield who could only manage 101 in reply thanks to Sibusiso Maseko (3-10) and Craig Black (3-26).
Newton le Willows are top of the table despite being held to a draw by Bootle who declared on 249-8 with Ben Walkden (3-54) and Dominic Chambers (3-59) the pick of the bowlers. Skipper Chris Chambers top scored with an unbeaten 61 as the hosts closed on 179-4.
Sutton are second in Division Two after a big win over Northop Hall. Half-centuries from Thomas Nolan (61) and Joseph Noctor (59) took Sutton to 267-7 before Jamie Greener (4-36) and Alex Oldfield (3-53) wrapped up a 122 run victory.
