CUP games replaced the league schedule this weekend with the region's sides swapping timed cricket for limited overs ties.
In the first round of the Ray Digman Trophy, Rainford travelled to Lytham and posted 258-6 off their 45 overs with Jason Login's 72 the highlight. Login then completed a brilliant performace taking 4-30 as the hosts were dismissed for 192.
Newton le Willows entertained Birkenhead Park but the visitors emerged victorious after bundling out the home side for 113. Dominic Chambers took 3-30 but Park reached the target five wickets down.
Billy Godleman hit 69 as Rainhill made 230-9 against Colwyn Bay. The Welsh side were dismissed for 115 with Jack Parry taking three wickets.
Rainford now host Birkenhead Park in the next round with Rainhill playing Southport and Birkdale at home.
In the first round of the Ray Tyler Shield, Sutton made the trip to Maghull with Alex Oldfield's 3-33 the pick of the bowlers as the home side were dismissed for 208. In reply Jack York hit 47 but Sutton were bowled out for 163.
Matthew Bielby (5-26) and William Griffiths (3-14) combined for St Helens Town as they dismissed Norley Hall for 93. Adam Burton (46) led the way as Town sealed an eight wicket win. They now travel to Bootle in the next round.
On Sunday, Rainhill hosted Wigan in the Lancashire Cup. John Richardson hit an unbeaten 157 as the visitors racked up 323-4 off their 45 overs before Rainhill were skittled for just 32.
