FIGHTERS from JC’s Boxing Club spent a successful weekend competing in the England Boxing National Schools Championships 2023 in Guildford, Surrey.
The six boxers entered were Bodean Kindon, Edward Evans, Niamh May, Francesca Goodman, Emily Rigby – all aged 13, plus 12-year-old Daniel Roberts.
And all six of them became Merseyside and Cheshire Champions for 2023 making that a new record for the JC Boxing Club.
Three of the fighters just fell short with split decisions at the National quarter final stage in Liverpool.
However, Emily Rigby, Daniel Roberts and Francesca Goodman all progressed to the National Finals in Guildford.
The competition ran over two days, with a semi-final and then the final the following day.
Ste Birch of JC’s Boxing Club said: “Emily came away with a bronze whilst Daniel and Francesca both won gold.
“This is an amazing achievement as they have competed and won against the best in the country.
“Francesca will now attend England training squads hoping the compete at this year’s Schools European Championships.
“This would not be possible without our amazing coaches Tony Moir, Jill May, Shane Booth, Gary Talbott, Hannah Palfrey, Steve Brookes and our newly qualified Kai Birch.
“And also a massive thank you to our sponsors and support as without them the cost of trips like this would not be possible.”
