ST HELENS Town went into their second consecutive home game looking to pick up their first points in the Liverpool County Premier League against East Villa.

After an improved second half in the previous game against Sefton Athletic and the return of key players the Town faithful had reason to feel hopeful to pick up the much needed points and finally kick start the season.

With the return of some key players, Town were hoping to push on from last week’s strong second half performance and pick up some much needed points as they look to gain promotion at the first time of asking.

Off the pitch, Town again laid on plenty of off the field family-friendly activities.

Arts and crafts, a half-time beat the keeper competition and hilarious dizzy penalties made for a fun afternoon and provided a great atmosphere.

Unfortunately that atmosphere didn’t carry over to on-the-pitch matters as Town were fairly beaten 3-0 to ensure the points once again disappeared down the M62.

Town seemed bereft of ideas in the final third and couldn’t unlock a well organised and hard-working side.

On the upside, it was young, local lad Scott McGregor who picked up the Player of The Match award for a tireless and skilful display.

There is hope around the club, and they are building for the future, but the Blues desperately need to start performing on the field if they are to return to their former glories.

Town’s next game is away to Liverpool Nalgo, Alder Road, L12 2AY on 3rd September.

The next home game is on 17th September against MSB Woolton, all kick offs are 3pm.
