CLOCK Face Miners pulled off the shock of the round in the NCL division 2 when they defeated, table toppers, Ince Rose Bridge 20-12 in atrocious conditions on Saturday.
Clock kicked off into the driving wind of storm Hannah and within the first set, Ince coughed up possession, Tom Taylor scooped up the loose ball and raced over for the try. Several minutes later and Clock were in again, Jordan Eccleston took a short pass as he cut a line through the defence to score 10m in from touch.
Neither try was converted.
A penalty on 39 minutes for Ince was converted taking the score to 8-2 at half time.
In the second half, Clock had the wind at their backs and were first to score as a sweeping passing play found Luke Forber on the wing who crashed over for the try. Midway through the second half, Ince finally found the try line.
However, this comeback was short lived when Eccleston followed up a kick in goal to score by the posts. Webster slotted over the conversion and followed this up with a converted penalty five minutes later. Ince completed the scoring with a late conciliation try.
Clock Face A team also had tough win with a 22-12 victory away at Rylands in the NWML.
