SAINTS boss Justin Holbrook was happy with the way his side wrapped up the Super 8s with a win over Castleford, but was not getting carried away.
The game was nowhere near the intensity that will come into play next week in the semis when the top four will take it up several notches with a place at Old Trafford at stake.
This was simply a case of getting the job done and they had the game wrapped up at half-time with an 18-0 lead, adding one more try in a quiet second half.
Holbrook said: "It was an awkward game for both sides.
"Neither team were near their best and not at full strength.
"I'm happy with the performance, it was great to be able to keep them to nil and keep defending the way we did.
"We now look forward to next week.”
There were more strong displays from the young packmen, who have really grabbed their chance of a jersey.
Holbrook continued: “The young lads did well when they came on. Jack Ashworth and Matty Lees have been great whilst James Bentley had another run.
“Matty Costello played at centre and then full back. The young guys have really stepped up for us which has been great and it’s been good to give them the opportunity to play in the first team.
“It’s also important that we still win when they are in the side too. They have done a great job and we have come away with a few wins.”
It capped off a big week at Saints, starting with the announcement that Ben Barba was leaving.
His two tries showed that his head is not on the plane to Australia just yet.
Holbrook said the stay or go debate was never a factor in performance.
"It was never an issue but at least everyone now knows what where we're at," Holbrook said.
"Benny's been great for us this year. He's finished as the top try scorer and nearly at the top of try assists, he's definitely made an impact this year."
