RAINFORD were brought back to earth by Ormskirk, after last week’s good start, with a reminder of what lies ahead in the MI Dental Liverpool Competition Premier Division.
After being asked to bat they were dismissed for a disappointing total of 92 with only a dogged 23 from John Dotters and a lively 24 from Ravi Mistry making any impact.
Ormskirk’s powerful pace attack was led by Gavin Griffiths who was rewarded with 4 for 20.
The visitors from up the road had little difficulty in reaching their target, although a number of dropped catches helped their cause.
Andrew Baybutt (32) and Josh Bohannon (31) ensured the win.
There was better news from the 2nd X1 at Maghull where after piling up 226, Rainford dismissed the home side for 101 to record their second successive win.
After Ellie Threlkeld had opened up with 27, Anthony Reid hit 93, sharing an excellent fifth wicket stand with Ben Hemingway (41).
Skipper Andrew Harrison took control of the second half mowing down the Maghull batting order with 8 for 39, with Steven Cline chipping in with 2 for 20.
