PATRICK Rooney will move out of the junior squash ranks on a high.
The 18-year-old from St Helens, who is to compete on the Professional Squash Association circuit, won the individual under 19s title and team gold with England at the European Championships.
Rooney overhauled French Junior Open champion Benjamin Aubert in the individual final in Kriens, Switzerland.
That followed hot on the heels of his triumph at under 19s level in the English Championships, marking his fifth national title success and completing the set having triumphed at every age group.
Coached by Fiona Greaves and David Pearson, Rooney's world ranking peaked at 191 in January.
Rooney's form is a continuation of his success last year when he was a silver medallist in the Commonwealth Youth Games in Apia, Samoa, fifth in the World Junior Championships in Eindhoven and the Dutch Junior Open winner in Amsterdam.
