JAMIE Foster is in talks with a number of Super League clubs about a potential move from Saints.

The goalkicking winger sought permission to speak with other teams because he fears his chances at Langtree Park next season will be limited.

The 22-year-old, who has a year to run on his current Saints contract, held discussions with Bradford Bulls this week about a 12-month loan deal.

However, he admits there is also interest from three other top flight teams who want to take him on a permanent basis.

The former Blackbrook junior stopped short of naming the interested parties, but they do not include Hull, where he enjoyed a successful loan spell at the end of last season.

Foster told the Star: “There is a lot of competition in the outside backs at St Helens, with the likes of Francis Meli, Ade Gardner and Tommy Makinson who can play in those positions as well as Gary Wheeler and Josh Jones.

“No disrespect to the likes of Whitehaven and Rochdale (who Saints have forged links with to field reserve and junior players) but I don’t want to be doing that.

“It’s not that I’m too big for it, it’s that I’ve played in two Grand Ffinals and nearly 60 Super league games and it’s not going to progress my career.

“I don’t want to get to August next year and have only played two Super League games for St Helens.

“I’m not the sort of player to just sit back and take the money. I want to get my head down, play in Super League and prove myself.

“There is interest from four clubs and I’m not rushing to make a decision.”

There has been interest from a rugby union club but Foster sees his immediate future in league.
