TWO men have been arrested and a search is underway to find another suspect after reports of a man brandishing a knife in Sutton.
Heavy police activity was seen outside The Wheatsheaf pub in Sutton, with sirens heard around the Sutton area.
The cause was that at 12.30pm, officers received a report that three males had been sighted on the road and that one of them was in possession of a knife.
Officers attended and two males were arrested for drugs offences, while enquiries are ongoing to locate a third male.
It has been reported that the men ran inside the Wheatsheaf pub to evade police, although the pub owner stressed that the incident had nothing to do with the business.
A Merseyside Police spokesperson, said: “We remain in the area and would appeal for anyone with information to get in touch by contacting our social media desk on Twitter @MerPolCC or Facebook ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’.”
Someone from inside The Wheatsheaf said: “All I know is that two men ran into the pool room and police ran in after them pretty much straight away and took them away.
“It was nothing that happened inside the pub and they were gone very quickly after they arrived. Business is as usual here now.”
