THE St Helens athlete who raced all the way to the Barcelona Olympic Games will be aiming to inspire schoolchildren with her memories.
St Helens Olympian Ann Griffiths (formerly Williams) will be touring local schools in the run-up to the 2012 games.
Ann was proud to represent Great Britain in the 1,500 metres event at Barcelona in 1992.
Her experiences form part of the borough’s celebrations of the London 2012 games, with her visits coinciding with the arrival of the Olympic torch in the borough on Friday, June 1.
Through May and June, Ann will be talking to students at schools including the following.
Legh Vale, Rectory, Billinge Chapel End, St Teresa’s, Queens Park, Holy Spirit, Rivington, Merton Bank, Willow Tree, St Bartholomew’s, St Mary and St Thomas, Nutgrove and St Thomas of Canterbury Primary Schools, St Augustine of Canterbury High School, Haydock Sports College and Mill Green School.
