THESE Boy Scouts would have scratched their heads inpuzzlement if you’d talked to them about the Big Society in 1948, when this snap was taken.
The lads are hard at work earning cash in their Bob-a-Job week.
And it’s just been announced that the idea is being re-introduced in modern Scouting as Community Week.
This is the latest photo from Vivien Hainsworth’s treasure trove at St Helens Local History Library in the Gamble Building.
Recognise either the location of the photo or are there any of those Bob-a-Jobbers of 60-plus years ago?
Is this a police car?
There are just two cars in view... and an old guy riding his bike up the hill. Looks like our modern traffic overload was yet to rear its ugly head.
