IT is a cause close to his heart, so Mayor of St Helens Tom Hargreaves was more than happy to accept an invitation to a meeting for people caring for those with dementia.
The Making Sense Support Group meets at 7pm on the second Tuesday of the month at the Stewart assessment ward at Peasley Cross Hospital.
Joan O’Hanlon, clinical team manager, said: “The mayor has chosen dementia to be the focus of his fundraising activities during his year in office.
“His show of support was a real boost for our group, who valued the chance to speak to him about the challenges and rewards that come with caring for people who have dementia. We plan to stay closely involved with the mayor to help build the group.”
The group gives carers the chance to meet and get support. For more details ring Joan on 01744 646835.
