I MUST respond to the Con-Dems’ claim that Public Service employees receive so called ‘gold plated pensions’.
Well I, who has been working as a teaching assistant for almost 11 years will receive at age 65 (next year) the princely pension of £1,628.33 per year or £31.31 per week.
It may have been better if teaching assistants were not at the bottem end of the pay spine, along with only being paid for 39 weeks per year and between 25-30 hours per week.
Compare this with the average director of the FTSE 100 company pension pot of £3.6 million receiving an annual pension of £175.000 or a weekly pension of £3,365.
Now who is receiving a gold plated pension?
