THE issue of skills shortages within the building services industry was top of the agenda when St Helens College in partnership with Liverpool Community College, launched their Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) at a Forum of Providers os Business event.
In attendance to witness the award of the fll CoVE status, presented by Heather Prosser of the Learning Skills Council's National Office, were employers, and representatives from the North West Development Agency and the Greater Merseyside Learning Skills Council.
Dave Sumner, senior tutor in building services at St Helens College, who helped to organise the event, said: "The two colleges have demonstrated that they are customer focused and flexible in order to meet the needs of the building services industry."
