ABOUT the letter 'Now paying the price?' by Rosina Kilduff (Dear Star) this person got the wrong end of the stick surely. What the person is saying that any pension fund that collapses should be propped up by the Government and taxpayers money.
Surely Ravenhead workers pension fund was run by the company, which was a Plc therefore it was up to the Company and the Trustees of the fund to make sure the money was safe, so were where these trustees?
Now people like Rosina Kilduff believe it's the Governments responsibility. It's not, it's the responsibility of the Company and Trustees not the British taxpayer and that if people look at pensions they are all means tested when it comes to council tenants if you get a works pension it goes towards your rent and council tax anyway. So it really is means tested.
