A MAN who dishonestly obtained £8,105.16 in housing and council tax benefit has been given a three-month curfew order.
Barry Brownbill of Four Acre Lane, Clock Face appeared before St Helens Magistrates accused of housing and council tax benefit fraud. He pleaded guilty to six offences of dishonestly furnishing information, namely failing to declare an occupational pension, to St Helens Council with a view to obtaining housing and council tax benefit.
He was sentenced to a three-month Curfew Order commencing July 21 and ending on October 21 2004. He was also required to remain at his home address between the hours of 9pm to 9am and was ordered to pay £80 costs.
He was further ordered to re-pay the overpaid housing and council tax benefit.
The case was brought by St Helens Council's Benefit Fraud Team based at Lincoln House.
