FOUR Newton High School teachers, who have clocked up 130 years service between them have retired.
The four are Assistant Head Teacher Linda Parr, Deputy Head Teacher Malcolm Woodward, Assistant Head Teacher Dave Bullock and John Boydell, Head of the Faculty of Expressive and Performing Arts.
Linda joined the school in 1975 as an assistant in the English department. Malcolm started as a PE teacher in 1969 before becoming a head of year then deputy head teacher in 1986.Dave joined Newton High in 1971 as an assistant teacher of French, before being promoted to assistant head of year, then senior teacher. And John started on the same day as Dave Bullock as a music teacher and was promoted to head of music in 1994 then head of faculty. Amomg the students he taught during his time at Newton were former pop star Rick Astley.
