A FIRE at a church centre has left several groups and organisations looking for a temporary home.
Merseyside Fire Service said that the fire at St Luke's Church on Mulberry Avenue, Eccleston, which caused substantial damage to the roof, was not suspicious.
Church Warden Ron Anders explained: "We don't know how it happened but it's going to be out of use for a while.
"Now we are going to have to find accommodation for the organisations that use our hall, such as the Brownies, Boys Brigade, dancing clubs and pensioners.
"A lot of hard work needs going to clean up the mess."
