PEOPLE aged 60 and older are being encouraged to attend weekly pension surgeries at Helena Housing's new Moss Bank neighbourhood office to ensure they are taking up full benefit entitlements.
The pension surgeries will take place every week from this Wednesday, between 10am and noon at the centre, located on the corner of Bowness Avenue and Kendal Drive, Moss Bank.
People aged 60 or older are entitled to pension credit, with single folk given a weekly allowance of £105.45 and couples £160.95.
Helena Housing, which is running the surgeries in conjunction with the Pension Service, say one St Helens couple recently learned they were entitled to almost £200 extra each week. The social landlords say they want to ensure more pensioners are not missing out.
Helena Housing chief executive Rob Young said: "We are committed to helping older people receive the best possible advice and assistance.
"We can make a difference to the lives of older people by ensuring they are receiving their maximum entitlement from the new Pension Credit allowance."
