ST HELENS cyclist Jon McEvoy came third in the British Cycling's Juvenile Circuit Championships at Hillingdon Circuit, London last weekend.
He was racing in the under 16s event, which was full of incident.
A small group got away and opened a small gap between themselves and the main field.
It was never really a winning break and the main field had the breakaway group in sight all the time.
With just a couple of laps to go the main bunch speeded up and caught the breakaways resulting in a mass sprint for the line.
Jon, who rides for Liverpool Century Road Club and lives in St Helens, emerged from the speeding bunch to clinch third place and take the bronze medal.
Medal
This is the first national medal Jon has won on the road and sets him up nicely for competing in the junior ranks next year.
