I HAVE already spoken by phone to my old army chum, Jim Lane, who I had asked Star readers to help me find, and we have now started e-mail correspondence through his son-in-law.
Jim now lives in Widnes, Cheshire. I also heard from another Jim Lane who gave me the addresses of three more Jim Lanes in St Helens. The Star and your readers certainly do a great and prompt job at finding people.
Just as a note of interest, hardly a week goes by but we read in our Israeli press of family separated during the holocaust 60 years ago finding each other. In all these cases the people concerned were convinced that their loved ones had perished together with the six million slaughtered by the Nazis.
Once more thank you for your kindness.
DAN Avital, Israel (via e-mail)
