I took my daughter to Taylor Park today, as I do most days. First we had to cross the roads in Toll Bar. These have 20mph speed limits and speed humps, which most people think are for decoration.
Next Prescot Road, a pedestrian's nightmare.
No controlled crossing places, the islands are useless and dangerous to wait at, the speed limit of 30mph is ignored and the lights change too close together allowing no chance of a gap, even queuing at the lights the cars wait bumper to bumper. On reaching the park you then have to avoid all the dog dirt, and believe me Taylor Park has to be the worst in the borough. Next the bicycles. One section has prohibited the riding of bicycles because the paths are too narrow, although I don't mind young children on their trikes. After all I myself have a toddler. After all that fun we then have to try to get home safely.
I hear now that money is being spent to update the facilities. Great news, more traffic, more dogs, more bikes and more litter.
I don't usually complain, I normally grin and bear it but I'm tired of people moaning about how installing traffic lights are slowing them down. Tough. Have they actually stopped to consider that maybe the lights are not there to hinder them, but maybe to help the pedestrian?
