PRESCOT & Odyssey moved into joint second place of the Merseyside & Southport Cricket Alliance with a home win against Moorfield, taking maximum points in the process.
They now have won their last eight league matches and look to take that form into next week's match against leaders Liverpool NALGO in the hope of securing a promotion spot.
Put into bat P&O got off to an excellent start as openers Barrie Keeble and Jason Ratcliffe saw off the new ball attack and shared a stand of 67.
Both however failed to capitalise and lost their wickets within the space of a few overs for 31 and 35 respectively.
Pravin Tambe went in at three and showed his class again.
After West and Wilkinson went cheaply Andy Murphy joined Tambe and matched him run for run as they too shared a fifth wicket stand of 106 before Murphy was harshly adjudged LBW for 57.
Tambe went on to make 76 before losing his wicket in the run chase; P&O skipper Iain Handley pulled the bell with the score on 219 for 8, after gaining maximum batting points.
Cartmel, opening the bowling with Handley, took the important wicket of Neil Maher in the second over, but from then on struggled with his line and was replaced after five overs with Tambe.
Handley, bowling off-spin, picked up early wickets as Moorfield continued to bat positively, however the combination of the two spinners was too much for the visitors and they fell well short with some excellent fielding especially a steepling catch on the boundary by Peter West.
Handley finishing with 5 for 69 and Tambe 4 for 40.
